Durable Power of Attorney
Giving your authority to an agent to act on your behalf
A Durable Power of Attorney is a legal document that controls who has the authority to make decisions on your behalf if you become incapacitated or incompetent. Without this document, neither your friends nor your family, including your spouse, are permitted to make important financial decisions on your behalf. The clear expression of who shall be appointed as an agent to make financial decisions is of critical importance not only to our clients, but also to their financial institutions (i.e., banks, brokers, and financial advisers), the legal system, and, most importantly, their families. Jordan Alford prepares the Durable Power of Attorney as part of comprehensive estate planning.
